Link your WordPress blog feed to your Google Buzz profile with this little plugin. When your blog is re-crawled the claim will be verified and feeds associated with the site will be made available within Google Buzz for the verified user.

The plugin uses the XFN link syntax outlined in the Google Buzz API documentation.

Installation

1. Upload ‘google-buzz.php’ to the ‘/wp-content/plugins/’ directory
2. Activate the plugin through the ‘Plugins’ menu in WordPress
3. Navigate to ‘Settings > Google Buzz’ and simply insert your Google Buzz username.

Can’t I just add the XFN link manually?

You certainly can, not everyone is so tech savvi.

Why isn’t my feed appearing in my Google Buzz stream?

Give it some time, Google must first crawl or re-crawl your blog to pick-up the connection/claim and feed.

Future Development

We hope to one day add submission features similar to Tweetmeme’s plugin. That functionality is of course dependent on Google releasing more API features.

Update: 2/11/2010 There is a plugin currently available but doesn’t seem to be on wordpress.org that adds a Buzz button. Check it out here.

   OK, I got Buzz to recognize my WordPress site (http://glo.org) as a connected site. (HINT: if you don’t see it right away, use Google’s Webmaster tools to do a site verification and it will get picked up straight away: http://google.com/webmasters/tools.) But, now when I publish a test article to WordPress, I am not seeing anything taking place on Buzz. Question: are there any additional steps required? Or does it take time for Google to re-crawl a WordPress site in order for WP posts to be picked up by Buzz? thnx…

     Thanks for posting the Google Webmaster Tools suggestion.

     You’ve set everything up correctly if your gbuzz profile has detected the connected site. I’m not sure why it isn’t posting to your profile. I can confirm it’s working for me, but it did take some time.

   Thanks for this plugin. I installed and it is working great! Suggestion: Currently the plugin posts my entire blog entry in Buzz. Is it possible for this plugin to just post the blog entry’s permalink in Buzz, rather than the entire post? I’d like people to go my site to read my posts, rather than just reading them in Buzz.

   Great plugin. Yours seems to be the only one that feeds blog entries to Buzz. All the others feed Buzz entries to the blog. With the addition of the above suggestion, it would be just what I am looking for. Cheers!

     I don’t know that you can reduce your feed to just the title, unless your using Feedburner. You can however reduce the content to just a summary by adjusting the reading section under settings.
